Match Report Nuneaton Colts v Kenilworth Colts Third Round Nat Cup
Despite a spirited and defiant display by Kenilworth Colts, the bigger side won on the day. Kens were also let down by 4 players bottling it and not turning up. At half time we were 31-7 down and it looked like we were in for a drubbing, but the boys came back to draw the second half on tries for a final score of 38-12.

Kenilworth conceded at try to Nuneaton in the first minutes of the game. The kick off was knocked on and Nuneaton spun their ball out from the resulting scrum, to the Fly Half who kicked through and chased the ball down to score. & Nil 1 Min.
Five mins later Nuneaton kicked for the corner and the resulting maul went over easily to score. 14 Nil 5 Mins. This was an ominous start, but the Kens rallied and started to put together a more aggressive defence.
The little possession we were getting, we were running and one of these attacks ended up in the corner for a line out to us. A rolling maul from the Kens, broken play and Sam Bailey beat 2 men from 10 yards and over the line to score. Joy added the conversion, his first time in the job.

Over the next 10 minutes Kenilworth defended constantly, unable to put much possession together against a dominant Nuneaton pack. At 20 mins the Nuns completed a good move out to their Winger, over to score in the corner, not converted 19-7
A similar passage of play followed, but with Nuneaton again breaking over to score with space under the post. This was converted 26-7 28 mins.
In the dying moments of the half, Kens conceded a penalty at half way. This was kicked to the corner and the intention was clear. The resulting maul went over to complete the half. A great conversion from the sidelines went over 31-7. HALF TIME
From the kick off Kenilworth took the game to Nuneaton and harried them at every turn. In particular the Nuneaton backs spilled ball which started to give Kenilworth possession. Much of the game was played in the Nuneaton half and for 10 mins Nuneaton were rattled.
Unfortunately, after 9 mins Kenilworth lost a ball in the centre of the field and Nuneaton put it out to their Winger who went over to score against the run of play. The was converted 38-7.
Again Kenilworth started to win possession and after 21 mins Bailey took a great ball and kicked through into space. The fly half ran through and punted a perfect weight ball, which just crossed the Nuns try line. The race was on to touch down, but the Nuneaton No 8 cynically brought down Bailey without the ball. Should have been a penalty try but we had to settle for a yellow card.
The resulting kick to the corner did not result in a try but Nuneaton clearing their lines kicked straight at the Kenilworth Backs who ran the ball forward. After 3 or 4 phases Kens kept closer to the line and Andy Goode nipped over to score. No Conversion 38-12 26 mins.
Until the end Kenilworth battled hard against a tiring Nuneaton who had their man back on for the last 4 mins. Game ended 38-12
