Harbury 47 Kenilworth 3rds 0.
A difficult day at the office for Kenilworth 3rds – suffering similar front row challenges to that facing the England management (Simon B having been asked to take his boots to fortress Twickenham on Saturday.......), we travelled to meet Harbury 2's on the understanding we would borrow some front row, to avoid that contradiction in terms known as 'uncontested - scrums'. (Which for anyone wearing number 1 – 8, is quite frankly a waste of time and energy).........anyway, back to the story.....Ken 3rds crossed the Fosse only to discover on arrival there had been a 'mix up' in communication, and as a result rather than Harbury pass on the message for their 'spare' front row to turn up – this appeared to have got confused with any of their 1st XV wanting a fixture to turn up, to play in a match against Ken 3rds......
So that afternoon, perhaps not surprisingly Kenilworth came second to a Harbury side, to the shape of 47:0. It was a spirited performance by all involved, with one disallowed Kenilworth try following a well worked move in the backs (ball held up), so on the grounds the ref is always right, nothing else can be said.
Interestingly, while checking on the Harbury web site to get the final score(!), I noticed the same fixture in Feb 2013......again played away, at Harbury. Kenilworth ran away winners 62:12. We spent the afternoon providing Harbury with a number of Kenilworth soles, having turned up with extra numbers due to no 2nd team game......interestingly, in true Kenilworth fashion we gave some of our best players to the opposition!
