"Willie, I’m very sorry to have to report the death of Mike Turner early on Sunday in Malta following a struggle with cancer. Mike attended Warwick School &, after leaving school, was hooker for Kenilworth 1st. XV in the late 50s – early 60s in competition with, firstly, Phil Bellingham &, later, Taff Phillips. I was reminded today by Brian LeVoi that Mike also starred for the Ferrets alongside other such worthies as Peter Plummer & Bob Henham! Mike & I shared a flat In London for a few years before he moved abroad in the oil services industry. He had been living in Malta for many years & was prominent in the local rugby fraternity as a referee, journalist & broadcaster. He was also passionate about choral music & sang in the choir of St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral in Valletta. ’m sure there are still many members of Kenilworth RFC that will remember Mike with great affection & will treasure his memory.
