Kenilworth Colts 43 Earlsdon Colts 10
Saturday 18 November 2017
Kenilworth Colts secure an impressive six-try win over Earlsdon on the main pitch. Final score 43 – 10.
As the England squad prepared to take on the Wallabies in the pouring rain at Twickenham, Kenilworth Colts kicked off under the floodlights at Glasshouse Lane.
After a scrappy opening 15 minutes, Kenilworth’s Harry Hindson scored the game’s first try, converted by Will Morgan. Within a couple of minutes, No.3 Spoons secured a second score – again successfully converted by Will.
Kenilworth’s pressure continued to dictate play with every player putting in 100%. Their next reward came from an Earlsdon handling error that presented Sam Morris with a half-pitch sprint finish, placing the ball between the posts. Will’s third kick secured a 21 – 0 lead.
Earlsdon kept pressing though, and on the half-hour their No.3 powered through to open their score line. The first half concluded with a successful Kenilworth penalty kick and a 24 – 5 home lead.
After the break Earlsdon came out altogether stronger and better organised. Within minutes they had scored another five points. Kenilworth absorbed the pressure and in an intense seven-minute period scored three tries from Ryka, Garaint and Rob P. All but the last one converted by Will’s accurate boot. With the score line at 43 -10 and Earlsdon taking a couple of late injuries, their coach called the game to a close.
Impressive commitment from the Colts and a convincing win. Players, coaches and parents celebrated afterwards while England thumped Australia 30 - 6.
